Minuteman Trail: The Time Has Come for Year-Round Access

Take Action - Lexington

Show your support for a Clear Trail

After the successful Winter 07/08 pilot program run by the Town of Arlington to provide year-round access to their section of the Minuteman Trail, winter users come out in droves. With hundreds of users per hour on the Trail during peak times, and with the overall cost coming in well under budget, it was easy to see that this initiative was one that should be continued. The Town of Lexington noticed this success as well and has taken steps to run a pilot program of its own for Winter 08/09. Unfortunately, this pilot program has been suspended. It is more important than ever to voice your opinion to help Lexington get back on track.

The Clear the Trail Initiative goal is year-round access to the entire length of the Minuteman Trail. To that end, please take a minute to send a letter of support to Lexington Town Officials. Your support matters and your voice will be heard. Thanks again for your support and, most importantly, your action.

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is ______ and I am writing in support of year-round maintenance of the Lexington section of the Minuteman Trail. The recent news that the pilot program has been temporarily suspended is disappointing but I believe that the minor hurdles encountered are not insurmountable. Lexington and its residents will reap tremendous benefit from year-round access and I am confident that the wrinkles in the current program can be ironed out.

I commend the Town of Lexington for taking the first steps toward year-round access for all and hope for a speedy resolution to the issues that have suspended the pilot program. I'm excited for the day when year-round access is official Town policy.

Sincerely,
